They are? So a OK team that lost by 20 to WVU or a Hawaii team blown out by UGA aren't "over ranked"? Ands I'd say there's no way someone would think the Gators were over rated losing to unranked Michigan. But a #5 VT losing by 3 to #8 after 4 TO's is over rated hmmm.....

Re: Jayhawks vs Chokies
To VT's credit, they really cant help what conference they are in, that should be a non issue but playing a tougher non conference schedule would be better for gaining respect. LSU was a good start but they need to add another game to go with one like that. It doesnt have to be an LSU type team but at least a respectable opponent from a BCS conference. An Okie State, a Arizona State, a Michigan State, etc. That looks alot better on the schedule than James Madison and Ohio.

Re: Jayhawks vs Chokies
I'd say put UT on the schedule. Would make a good rivalry I would think.

Re: Jayhawks vs Chokies
I do agree with you there mega. I was really shocked when VT put ECU on the schedule for the next umpteen years. But to VT's credit, I also know they have tried to get games with several schools that either backed out or flat refused to play such as Auburn, Ohio St., Notre Dame, and Penn. St. the 1st 2 backed out and the last 2 refused.

...so Tech picked up William and Mary, and Ohio, and the rest of those powerhouses they've got on the schedule.

A couple years back John Boy and Billy did a whole show on the fact that UT wouldn't play at BIR....wanna guess who they didn'y want to play? I'd guess they COULDN"T play as soon as VT wanted, but it made some good comedy . It fell into the show, as they do NASCAR regular and the folks that ran the track were on hand. One of the mornings I worked in the shop, near a radio.

This past season I think Northwestern (it was a Big 10 team) cancelled their game because of "new head coach" and Ohio was the available team to replace them on short notice. And VT will continue to schedule a 1AA team from instate every 3-4 years. They do so to keep the money instate to the smaller schools. Tech can't get games from a lot of the "traditional" powers because they will not schedule a home and home with VT. It has been tried on numerous occasions.

Re: Jayhawks vs Chokies
I would rather see Tennessee play teams that are capable of beating them than play in a horrific conference, and schedule patsies the rest of the time. Let VT play Florida, Alabama, Georgia, the Auburns, Arkansas, LSU (wait they did) every year and see how many BCS bowls they go to. For now what you'll have to live with is being outcoached and choking once again in a big game. Kansas still hasnt played anybody. Dont worry though, I'm sure another Wm and Mary, or Western Michigan is around the corner, and the Hokie bird magnets and flags will be back on the cars. Just as soon as THE "U" and Florida State are back and it wont be long, you will be back where you belong; in the Gator Bowl.

Re: Jayhawks vs Chokies
Right, they have played LSU 2 times. Won the 1st and got beat down the 2nd. If UT can schedule a game with Cal then why not VT? A lot closer and a lot easier on the pocket book. And in 08 and 09 they have UCLA on the schedule. Looks like they would just play VT and get an easy win vs a close by BCS school. Heck VT has an open slot for next season, why not move UAB or No Ill to the open 09 slot and put in patsy VT. It would be like playing a 1AA team.
